Abundance and Interference

Featuring Rosa SnymanWessels

My body of work deals with the basic possibilities and promises held within an otherwise very everyday process of creative action and unwanted involvement. Although abundance is everywhere, either around or within us, the act of something that hinders are also lurking.

The artworks are an expression of my own voyage, driven by unconscious impulses - the play between the tangible and intangible, especially with layered paint, glue, latex, and plant material. As a result, the silent tension between different mediums that gives the impression of something spilling over with abundance and at the same time, a ‘red light’ of interference that lingers somewhere.

We can neither stop, nor make the future more foreseeable, but we can enjoy the abundance that life offers us and strengthen our resistance against the overwhelming constraints of interference. Therefore, my work invites the visitor to take a detour and discover the hidden resources and interventions of life. Rosa holds a Bachelor of Visual Art Degree from Unisa 2016.
