Divine Luminosity

In her artist statement Grady explains how she experiences the Divine through luminosity, she does not focus on a single belief system but refers to universal wisdom. She draws inspiration from experiential knowledge which she terms as Divine greatness. And yet she does not quite abandon the material world, quite the contrary, the manner in which she engages with the paint, both oils and acrylics, roots her firmly in the physical realm. She engages with the metaphorical through highly individual symbolism which again ties into a myriad of belief systems. Eventually the work becomes a dance between experiential, material, and metaphorical knowledge. Divine Luminosity becomes a testimony to the importance of the lived experience of the painter through making tacit, material, and symbolic meaning.
